Glass Fiber an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
Silicabased glass fiber has been around for a long time. Common glass fiber is readily available commercially in a variety of different chemical compositions. Most glass fibers are silica based (∼5060% SiO 2) and contain a host of other oxides of calcium, boron, sodium, aluminum, iron, are commonly used for reinforcement of thermosetting and thermoplastic polymers.
